Bacteria in Ponds

Last year the State of  Massachusetts issued a warning about dangerous bacteria in ponds that had led to the death of a number of dogs.  It looks like this bacteria is now on MV and one person has been poisoned by it (but fortunately recovered). Although Senge Pond hasn’t yet been tested, it is all around us. The attached article from the Vineyard Gazette provides details. While it’s getting pretty late in the year for swimming,  watch out for your pets. Hopefully, this bacteria won’t reappear in the spring.
